Care gap for women  

The greatest difficulty in accessing care, according ton a recent report is encountered by women. Simply put… men get better, faster care. For Canadian women this means delayed diagnosis, delayed treatment –and reduced interventions for conditions like cancer and dementia. Women also have less tests, less specialist services and slower non-emergency surgery than their male counterparts. The study using data from the Canadian Health Survey also showed that women 65plus are at most risk and are more susceptible to misdiagnosis and treatment.

Cognition and memory benefits were cited as benefits for older women practicing Kundalini – a more precise, repetitive and spiritual form of yoga. In particular, women at risk of Alzheimer’s showed improvements in subjective memory, brain health and gene expression.

Are you a working caregiver?

1) Give you some flexibility 
2) Be compassionate 
3) Agree on an emergency plan to cover your role should it be necessary

Additionally, assigning a workplace mentor, providing emotional intelligence training for managers to help them have productive conversations in difficult circumstances and creating an employee resource group are also helpful activities employers can implement to better support caregivers.
