When life becomes stressful

Everyday upsets, changes in plans, and difficult decisions can put you on an emotional rollercoaster. When something’s bothering you, experts agree that shifting your attention away from what’s bothering you is an effective calming technique. Try practicing mindfulness by engaging your senses:

SEE: Observe and question what’s visible. Identify shapes, sizes, people, and colors in the scene.
HEAR: Pay attention to sounds and their characteristics, like volume, origin, and whether it is constant or intermittent.
SMELL: Notice various scents and think about their strength and pleasantness. Be present in the moment.
